January 31st, 2010 · Itunes

So you want use your iPhone to watch your favorite Movies, TV Shows, Sports and Music Videos. If you live in the US you’ll already have access to quality video files available for iPhone through the iTunes store. That’s great if you want to watch your credit card balance make a speedy decline to zero. Plus what if you don’t live in the states and can’t access the US iTunes store? Thankfully there is a much more cost effective way to fill up all that flash memory with all your favorite video, and you can search and download these files from anywhere in the world. Simply get Unlimited iPhone Video Downloads for a One Time Membership Fee by joining an unlimited iPhone Download Site.

These sites are becoming very popular at the moment because they are the absolute best source for all your iPhone Video Downloads. You can have access to the latest movies and videos in digital quality for the same price as a couple of DVD’s.

We decided to see what all the fuss was about and began doing some genuine research on these iPhone Video Download sites to see just what you get for your money and how easy it was to download quality video for the iPhone. We joined over a dozen of these sites and ran some tests on all aspects of the way they function. Hopefully we can share with some valuable information from a members point of view in just how these sites function.

Becoming a member is a simple process that involves you spending $50 US on a lifetime membership fee. That’s all you’ll ever pay. Access to their extensive networks is immediate upon joining. Most sites offer tutorials on how the search and download process works. They all offer the necessary software as part of membership which you download to your PC or Mac and your ready to start downloading. The range of iPhone Video Downloads that is available is simply amazing. Millions of high quality files at your finger tips. We found all the latest movies plus a huge selection of classics, music videos, concerts and sporting events.

When searching I recommend you try searching for specific files that are already in the correct iPhone Video Fromats. This will save you converting them afterwards. If you can’t find the iPhone formats these sites do supply free the software required to convert the downloaded files. Download speeds are what you expect if your downloading large files. Speeds were on average between 3- 5 hours depending on format and file size. Speeds also depend on the number of hosts or seeders for that particular files. I always try and look for files that have plenty of hosts and not to many leaches and this will improve the speed of the download. During the download the speed may vary a little with hosts and leaches coming and going.

Other than iPhone Video Downloads these sites supply you with the necessary tools for converting your own DVD’s and home movies to iPhone format which is a great bonus. I use this software all the time to convert my own personal DVD collection to watch on my iPhone. The transferring of your files to your iPhone is done through iTunes as you normally would which is a simple process of dragging the file to iTunes and then transferring to your iPhone. May I just add that this is about the only use I would see for iTunes after joining one of these unlimited download sites.

When testing these unlimited download sites there were some sites that were very easy to use with good tutorials and had great customer service. Unfortunately there were a few that just weren’t as good as the others. Content on all sites was excellent and I really think they all have access to the same databases. Technical support is very important because if you get into trouble you really need prompt, reliable answers to your queries. All these sites are only able to be contacted by email. Response times can vary from an hour to a few days.

When making our recommendations we have selected the ‘cream of the crop’ based on all the above mentioned qualities. The good news is that all our recommended sites have a 60 Day Money Back Guarantee which they honor. This gives you peace of mind and you can basically try these sites ‘risk free’. If your not completely satisfied you can always request a refund.

When it comes to iPhone Video Downloads there is simply no better way to load up your iPhone with quality video files than to join one of our recommended download sites.

Create iPhone Ringtones – How to Make Your Own iPhone Ringtones in iTunes

January 31st, 2010 · Itunes

Making your own iPhone ringtones in iTunes with any non-DRM protected music file is free and very easy to do.

First, you must make sure that iTunes is using the AAC encoder when importing files. For Windows users, click Edit > Preferences, then click on Import Settings under the General tab (Mac users click iTunes > Preferences). Select the AAC Encoder in the first drop down menu, and click OK.

Select the Music folder on the sidebar, Right Click your song (ctrl + Click for Mac users) and then Get Info. Now go to the Options tab and designate a Start and Stop Time for the portion of the song you wish to use. Make sure that the interval is less than 40 seconds, and that both check boxes are filled.

Return to your music library, Right Click on your song, and then select Create AAC Version. This will create a new shortened copy of the song beneath the original.

You will now need to convert this copy into an .m4r file so it can be imported into your iPhone. Right click the file and select Show in Windows Explorer (Show in Finder on Mac). Select the file, then copy and paste a new version into the same folder (Windows users can do this by pressing Ctrl + C then Ctrl + V, and Mac users by pressing Command + C then Command + V).

After pasting the new copy of the file, simply select the file and click on the file name, then change the .m4a extension to .m4r. If the .m4a extension does not appear in the filename, Windows XP users can click on Tools > Folder Options, then click the View tab and uncheck “Hide Extensions for known file types”. On Windows Vista, this same option can be found under Organize > Folder and Search Options. You can also change the filename if you wish, and make sure to remove any hyphens or other symbols from the name.

Go back into iTunes and delete the first shortened AAC clip you converted. Now return to the folder where the .m4r file was created, drag the file into iTunes, and drop it onto your iPhone on the sidebar. Your ringtone is ready to go!

Tips to Uninstall iTunes & QuickTime

January 28th, 2010 · Itunes

Sometimes you need to uninstall iTunes & QuickTime because of their plug-in malfunctions, or you want to uninstall and re-install them with different versions to upgrade/degrade your iPhone firmware. But since iTunes and QuickTime have many components that are interdependent to each other, you will find it at most of times that erroneously uninstalling iTunes could cause QuickTime unable to be used, or vice versa. In view of this, uninstalling iTunes and all of its components in a correct order is vital.

Get in your Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the following components:

1. iTunes

2. QuickTime

3. Apple Software Update

4. Apple Mobile Device Support

5. Bonjour

6. Apple Application Support (for iTunes 9 or higher version)

Beware that this sequence could not be reversed or ignored, or you may get various warning messages that constantly compromise your uninstall.

Something you need to be concerned during the process:

1. All music you bought from iTunes Store or imported from CD will be saved in your “My Music” folder by default. Uninstalling iTunes will not delete these music.

2. When you completely remove each component of them and get a prompt asking you whether to reboot your computer, click “no”. Find and delete any sub-items regarding this component, if there is it.

3. Navigate to My Documents->My Music->iTunes, delete the file “iTunes Library.itl”.

4. Do not try to delete Mobile Device Support folder in C:Program FilesCommon FilesApple, try to use Add/Remove Programs as mentioned.

If all these steps are done correctly, you should now get the programs off your pc successfully. If you experience difficult in finding relatively leftover sub-items, which are sometimes stubborn enough to create a small icon on your Control Panel and launch QuickTime player every time when you click an mp3 linkage, try an application called Perfect Uninstaller.

DVD Buyers Get a Free Digital Copy on iTunes

January 27th, 2010 · Itunes

Recently, anyone who bought a copy of the special edition DVD “Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest” (an almost shot-by-shot parody of the first “Star Wars” movie) may have noticed they received something extra: a digital copy. With the digital copy, a person can watch the DVD on an iPod with video, or an iPhoneâ„¢.

“Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest” was the first DVD to come with a digital copy, but a deal between Twentieth Century Fox and Apple promises to deliver more DVDs with digital copy in the coming year. Announced in January, the two companies explained it makes sense for users to have the option of watching movies they buy on their portable media devices.

“One of the most requested features DVD buyers have been asking for is the ability to get the movies they bought into their iTunes library,” said Jim Gianopulos, chairman and chief executive officer of Fox Filmed Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to offer such an incredibly simple way for our customers to get even more out of their DVD purchase, and we look forward to releasing many more DVDs this year with iTunes Digital Copy.”

Included with DVDs like “Blue Harvest” are two discs. While one disc plays the movie on a DVD player, the other disc contains the digital copy. A person pops the digital copy into a computer, enters a unique serial number (printed on a DVD insert) and the movie is automatically copied to the person’s iTunes library. The user then has the capability of watching the movie on an iPod or iPhone without having to pay for it all over again at the iTunes store.

Of course, an individual needs to have an iTunes account before they can get their digital copy of the movie. And a user can only copy a movie to one iTunes account. If a person tries to copy the movie to another account, iTunes will say the code has already been used and deny the request.

But letting DVD buyers have free reign over how they choose to watch a movie certainly seems like a step in the right direction. Regular DVDs are protected so users cannot make copies or rip them onto computers (at least not legally). This has created a controversy in recent years (much as it has with music) because people believe once they buy a movie, they should be able to do whatever they want with it – whether watch it on an iPod or make copies for friends.

Of course, the deal also has its benefits for Apple and Fox. For Apple, it brings people to iTunes and encourages them to watch movies on computers, portable media players or phones – which may then inspire them to return to the iTunes store to purchase more movies. For Fox, it gives people another reason to buy DVDs or Blu-Ray discs because they’re getting something more at no additional cost.

And it seems as though other film studios will follow Fox’s lead. In early March, Lionsgate announced they also inked a deal with Apple to equip DVDs with digital copy for iTunes. The first Lionsgate film to debut with digital copy will be Sylvester Stallone’s “Rambo”, which comes out May 27th. Lionsgate is the company behind recent films like “3:10 to Yuma”, the dud “Good Luck Chuck”, and classic films like “Reservoir Dogs”.
